Inger Anderson, the Branch Director for the Semmes Branch of the Boys & Girls Clubs of South Alabama, was recognized by Focus WC as being one of their 2021 40 over 40. She is one of forty amazing women over forty who have made a mark professionally and impacted their community. Inger was honored at the annual Focus Women’s Conference in May along with the other nominees.

“My hope for women in the community is that they will come to accept themselves as unique individuals, realize their value and gifts, strive to reach their full potential, and then ‘pay it forward’ to the next generation.”

The mission of Focus WC is to encourage, educate, and empower women. They foster relationships and provide the tools, knowledge, and network to enable women to economically empower themselves, encourage them to live their best life, and impact their community in positive ways. Focus WC is impact-focused, non-partisan, and believes in inclusivity across all spectrums.

Inger has been a part of our organization for almost 40 years. She began her BGCSA journey in 1982 as a volunteer. She fell in love with the mission of inspiring great futures, and was hired in 1984 as a full-time employee.

Every time Inger encounters a young person, she seeks to uplift them and make them feel safe. In 2011, she sought to empower our young women by starting the nationally-recognized program: “No Limits” Girls Aviation. For ten years, this program has taught our youth that there are ‘no limits’ to their dreams. Today, she works at our Semmes branch – creating fun, engaging activities for our Club members and annually hosting the “No Limits” Girls Aviation Program.
