Empowering the Next Generation: Highlights from the 4th Annual Advocates for Girls Empowerment Conference

On March 17th, the Boys & Girls Clubs of South Alabama proudly hosted the 4th Annual Advocates for Girls Empowerment Conference—an inspiring and impactful event that brought together 70 girls for a full day of career exploration, personal development, and powerful conversations around confidence, resilience, and self-worth.

This annual conference has become a cornerstone of our commitment to nurturing the leadership potential of young women in our community. Led by Tiffany Pogue, Director of Workforce Development and Teen Services, the 2025 conference was a true reflection of her passion for youth empowerment and her dedication to providing meaningful experiences for the next generation of female leaders. Under her guidance, the event offered a series of hands-on workshops, interactive discussions, and opportunities for one-on-one mentorship.

From self-care and mental wellness sessions to career panels featuring local women leaders across industries, the day was thoughtfully designed to help young girls imagine bold futures for themselves. Participants engaged in open dialogue around the challenges they face, the strengths they possess, and the dreams they hold close. Each activity aimed to equip them with tools not only to navigate adolescence but to thrive as confident, capable women.

We are deeply grateful for the support of our generous partners who made this day possible. Special thanks go to the Advocates for Girls Women’s Giving Circle, Society of Clotilda’s Giving Circle, Fuse Project, Mobile Area Education Foundation, Chickasaw City School System, Mobile District Attorney’s Office, Lifelines Counseling, and many more for investing in the future of our girls. Your commitment to uplifting youth is paving the way for stronger, more vibrant communities.

Looking ahead, we invite you to be a part of this important work. Whether by joining the Advocates for Girls Women’s Giving Circle or sponsoring next year’s conference, your involvement can help us continue providing these life-changing experiences. And our work doesn’t stop here. Up next, the 2nd Annual Passport 2 Manhood Conference for boys will take place this June. Those interested in supporting this initiative can reach out to Cory Penn at cpenn@bgcsouthal.org.

Together, we are building a future where every young person—regardless of gender—has the tools, support, and encouragement they need to succeed.
