The Boys & Girls Clubs of South Alabama (BGCSA) hosted their inaugural Future Me Conference: Empowering Boys to Lead Their Future on July 25, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The conference was held at the Harmon-Thomas Community Center, 1611 Belfast St, Mobile, AL 36607, and aimed to assist young men in shaping their future by envisioning their aspirations, connecting with men in the community, and fostering growth and mentorship.
The conference featured a dynamic program. Participants delved into a series of breakout sessions and panel discussions exploring wellness, healthy relationships, financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and leadership.
Ronnie Stallworth, Sr., mentor and author of “Cracks in the Wall,” delivered the keynote address, sharing his struggles from living in extreme poverty and experiencing loss, and how the power of mentorship changed the trajectory of his life. Conference participants included Zachary Todd from BGCSA; Todd Greer from Innovation Portal; Ellis Foster from Eluxe Capital Ventures; Tony Davis from Secret Scientist; Josh Jones from USA Health Violence Prevention; Sidney King from Commonwealth Bank; T’Chad McAlman from University of South Alabama Basketball; Chad Lott from ICU Mental Health; and Eric Battle from Mobile Parks & Recreation.
