Local teen named Boys and Girls Clubs of Alabama Youth of the Year (YOY) representative

YOY 2023 Ryan

(MOBILE, AL) – Boys & Girls Clubs of South Alabama announces Ryan Mosley’s selection as the 2023 Boys & Girls Clubs of Alabama Youth of the Year representative. He competed against youth representing Clubs throughout the state and earned the title based on his written application, interviews, and speech. Ryan is preparing for the Southeast YOY Celebration on June 15 in Atlanta, Georgia.

The once-timid teen found his voice and confidence at the Bernard Malkove Branch. He transformed into an outgoing and charismatic youth with the support of his newfound friends, the Club’s welcoming community, and participating in community service projects and Club programs such as Keystone Club and Torch Club. He is an honor roll student, a member of Baker’s Advisor’s Council, and a member of Mobile Kappa League, where he serves as secretary.

Ryan expresses gratitude for the support and guidance provided by the Club, his parents, Danny and Kimberly Mosley, his sister Kierra, and his mentors. “I am grateful for the support of my family, mentors, and the organization in helping me achieve my goals and giving me opportunities to give back to my community,” Ryan says.

His efforts have yielded scholarships from Beverly M. Burton Scholarship Trust as the Alabama YOY representative, Emily Hearin Scholarship Fund as the BGCSA Youth of the Year representative, and the Boys & Girls Clubs America totaling over $15,000. Ryan says, “All in all, the Boys and Girls Club has been a haven for me, promoting creativity and blossoming me into who I am today.”
