Gloria Williams Excels in the Foster Grandparent Program

Gloria Williams

At Boys & Girls Clubs of South Alabama, young people find mentors who notice their strengths, listen to their concerns and open up doors of possibility. Gloria Williams is one such mentor. Ms. Williams was formerly a dedicated art and dance Program Assistant from the early 1990’s until her retirement in 2017. She now volunteers at our Kiwanis Club through the City of Mobile’s Foster Grandparent program, whose mission is to provide services to children and youth with exceptional needs. Ms. Williams shares her love for art with our Club kids, and is at the Club Monday through Friday, teaching a wide variety of art skills, including painting and papier mâché.

She encourages thought and attention to detail when guiding the kids through seasonal and holiday projects, such as designing cards for Mother’s and Father’s Day. Ms. Williams is a recipient of our 2022 Woman & Youth Award and an excellent mentor to children in the Club. Your donation to Boys & Girls Clubs of South Alabama in honor of National Mentoring Month will provide kids and teens with positive adult mentors who listen, support and care. Donate by Jan. 31 to help more young people in our community now.
